Current Initiatives

At Catholic Concern for Animals – Cameroon (CCA-Cam), we are actively engaged in several initiatives aimed at improving animal welfare, promoting sustainable practices, and empowering local communities. Our current initiatives reflect our mission to create a compassionate society that values both animals and the environment. Below are the key initiatives we are currently undertaking:

1. Animal Welfare Education Program

  • Overview: This program aims to educate communities about proper animal care, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of animal welfare.
  • Activities: We conduct workshops and seminars in schools and community centers, distribute educational materials, and engage local leaders to promote awareness.
  • Goals: To reach at least 1,000 community members this year and foster a culture of compassion towards animals.

2. Ethno-Vet Garden Expansion

  • Overview: Following the success of our initial Ethno-Vet Garden Project, we are expanding this initiative to establish more community gardens across different regions.
  • Activities: We are collaborating with local farmers to create new gardens, providing training on sustainable agriculture, and promoting the use of traditional medicinal plants.
  • Goals: To establish 15 new gardens in underserved communities, enhancing food security and access to medicinal resources for families.

3. Youth Empowerment and Advocacy Program

  • Overview: This initiative engages young people in animal welfare and environmental advocacy, equipping them with the skills to become future leaders.
  • Activities: We organize leadership workshops, mentorship programs, and community service projects that encourage youth participation in advocacy efforts.
  • Goals: To empower 200 young leaders this year who will advocate for animal welfare in their communities.

4. Mobile Veterinary Clinics

  • Overview: Our mobile veterinary clinics aim to provide essential medical care to animals in rural and underserved areas.
  • Activities: We offer free veterinary services, vaccinations, and educational sessions for pet owners, focusing on preventive care and responsible ownership.
  • Goals: To treat over 1,500 animals this year, improving their health and reducing the spread of diseases.

5. Community Conservation Projects

  • Overview: We are implementing various community conservation projects to raise awareness about the importance of protecting local ecosystems and wildlife.
  • Activities: These projects include community clean-up events, tree planting initiatives, and educational workshops on sustainable practices.
  • Goals: To engage 500 community members in conservation activities and plant 3,000 trees this year.
